The "double action" is a trigger mechanism where the action of the finger on the trigger produces the full cocking and then the release of the shot. By extension, it is generally understood that a "double action" system is capable of carrying out both single and double action shots. In this last case, it is sometime called "Traditionnal Double Action". The systems which can carry out firing on the only mode of "double action" are called "Double Action Only" or DAO.
